Sattal, a small town, nested around luxuriant dense woodland, comprises green pine and oak groves, is a place of seven interconnected lake , (believe to get its name Sattal) located in the mehragaon valley. It is situated at an altitude of 1370km from sea level and 26 km from nainital. Sattal is a pleasure destination for passengers who seek quietude and tranquillity under the shade of pure nature.
The seven lakes of sattal are the most unspoiled and unpolluted freshwater lakes. They are also visited by migratory birds. The seven lakes are interconnected to each other and got their name from the Hindu mythology idols, they are as follows:
