Ritu Kumar launches her new collection just in time for festive season

Ritu Kumar’s winter/festive 2019 collection interprets Asia’s wealthy textile heritage with easy strains and silhouettes to celebrate the modern Indian woman. The marketing campaign sees Radhika Apte as the face, and features a voiceover narration by using the actor of Nobel laureate Rudyard Kipling’s 1910 poem, If, translated in Hindi.
With a color palette of earthy tones such as burgundy and sap greens, and fabrics like woven jacquards, cotton, Chanderi, and silk handled with regular vegetable dyes, the new series is the best amalgamation of old-world and cutting-edge influences. The designer, who is regarded for her intricate embroidery, has used a variety of strategies such as Kutch and Kashmiri jamaawar, and has incorporated metallic threads with mukaish, aari and kamdani important points to add a festive contact to the ensembles. The silhouettes consist of kurtas, pre-drapes saris, jumpsuits and tunics with uneven hemlines, among others, as nicely as printed scarves that will instantly elevate any look.
