Chandrababu Naidu, son put under house arrest ahead of rally against Jagan Reddy govt
Ahead of TDP’s protest rally in opposition to the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party, Chandrababu Naidu and his son have been positioned beneath residence arrest.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu used to be positioned under house arrest on Wednesday morning.
The TDP chief and other party leaders were taken into preventive custody ahead of the ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally towards the ruling YSR Congress Party.
Chandrababu Naidu’s son was also put underneath preventive detention at their residence, following an altercation with the police.
Following house arrest, Chandrababu Naidu sat on a hunger strike to protest against Jagan Mohan Reddy-led Andhra Pradesh government. Naidu sat on a fast at around 8 am and said he will proceed till 8 pm.
Section 144 was imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala, information corporation ANI reported.
Police said TDP did not get hold of any permission to take out ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally. Several TDP leaders and workers, who have been on their way to Naidu’s dwelling for the Atmakur rally were stopped by the police and taken into preventive custody.
The Andhra Pradesh Police have put several TDP leaders below house arrest in view of party’s call for ‘Chalo Atmakur’ rally following political violence allegations made by YSRCP.
Meanwhile, TDP has accused the YSR Congress Party of indulging into political violence after coming to electricity in May. It has alleged that the YSR Congress Party killed as many as eight of its birthday party employees and have attacked many more.
